William Lester Pirtle, 86
William Lester Pirtle, age 86, of Hermitage, Tenn., a native of Macon County, Tenn., passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at the Quality Care Health Care in Lebanon.
Funeral services for William Lester Pirtle were conducted on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Paul Shields officiating. Grandsons; David Hanna, and D. J. Pirtle served as honorary pallbearers.
Nephews served as active pallbearers. Interment followed in the Nelson McDonald Cemetery.
William Lester Pirtle was born on August 26, 1921 in Macon County, Tenn., one of eight siblings to the late Frank and Alice (Butcher) Pirtle. He married the former Fairlene West on March 24, 1951, sharing fifty-seven years together, she survives.
Besides his parents, son, Timothy L. Pirtle, three brothers, Chester, Vester, and Odis Pirtle, four sisters, Mae Woods, Vic Jones, Amy Pedigo, and Aloria Cothron preceded him in death.
Mr. Pirtle served in the Army during WWII, had been a truck driver for Marion and Thurman Company, a construction worker, and he attended the Grace Place Hermitage Church of God.
Besides his wife, he is survived by; daughters, Alice (Howard) Smith of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Dola Pirtle of Hermitage, Tenn., sons, Frank Pirtle and Donald (Donna) Pirtle all of Hermitage, Tenn., grandchildren, David Hanna, and D. J. Pirtle.
