Irene Dillard Gass, 85

Irene Dillard Gass, age 85, of Lafayette, Tenn., passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at the Hendersonville Medical Center. Graveside services for Irene Dillard Gass were conducted on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Roark Cemetery with Elder Doug Curtis officiating. Family served as pallbearers.

Irene Sarah Dillard Gass was born on Saturday, January 15, 1923 in Macon County, Tenn., one of five siblings to the late Lester and Mary Gammons Dillard.  Besides her parents, two daughters, Agnes C. Gass, Judy Ann Thompson, brothers, Bobby and J. C. Dillard, and sister, Georgia Dillard preceded her in death. Mrs. Irene was a homemaker and a good mother, raising eleven children as a single parent.  She was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.  She is survived by seven sons and daughters-in-law, Rowllon J. T. Gass, Willielee “Bill” Gass, Ronald D. (Shelby) Gass, Randall D. Gass, Larry Wayne Gass, Harold Wayne (Joyce) Gass, Terry Wayne Gass, daughters, Christine Ann Gammons, Teresa Ann (Nicky) Jackson, all of Lafayette, Tenn., sister, Littie Huntsman, Westmoreland, Tenn., 15 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
