Jeff Dias, 37

Mr. Jeff Dias, age 37 of Lafayette died in the trauma unit of Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville at 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning, June 12, 2008.

Sunday afternoon funeral services were conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral home and burial followed in the Dixon Springs Cemetery. Bro. Jackie Dillehay and Bro. Johnny Carver officiated at the 3 p.m. services.

Born Jeffrey Allen Dias at Baptist Hospital in Nashville on September 19, 1970, he was one of two sons of Tommy Dias of Lafayette and Vanessa Fay Dickerson Graham of Castalian Springs.

Mr. Dias was preceded in death by his grandfather, Eld. Gerald Dias who died June 3, 2007 at the age of 81 and by a first cousin, Brandon Shockley who died September 28, 1998 at the age of 16.

He was the great-grandson of the late Bronice Woodard of the Riddleton Community and the late Thomas Wilson and Reedie Dillard Towns Dias of the Nickajack Community.

Mr. Dias was a 1989 graduate of Macon County High School.

He had been employed as an Assembly Technician at Muller Brass in Hartsville since February 7, 2000.

Mr. Dias was of the Missionary Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his father and mother are his stepmother, Myra Dias of Lafayette; step-father, Jim Graham of Castalian Springs; children, Lacy Nicole Dias and Austin Thomas Dias both of Lafayette; grandparents, Peggy Woodard Dias of Cato Community; William Allen and Evie Lee Dickerson of Castalian Springs; great-grandmother, Gertrude Woodard of Madison; brother, Steve Dias and wife Heidi of Lavergne; step-brother, Mark Layton of Sullivan, Ind.
