Edna Alene Dyer, 89

Edna Alene Dyer age 89, of Lafayette, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at The Palace Care & Rehab in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. Funeral services for Edna Alene Dyer were conducted Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Ottis Jones and Elder Don Curtis officiating.

Joe Swindle, Coney Swindle, and Henry Swindle served as honorary pallbearers. Leslie Cook, Benny Swindle, Leslie Swindle, Dennis Swindle, Elmore Swindle, and Ronnie Gregory served as active pallbearers. Burial followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.

Edna Dyer was born on Thursday, April 17, 1919 in Smith County, Tenn., born one of nine siblings to the late Mackey Dixon and Mary Beatrice Appleby Thomas.  She was married to Leslie Marshall “Tom” Dyer Jr. on October 10, 1945, sharing forty-three years, and four children together, he preceded her in death on November 2, 1988.

Besides her husband and parents, brothers, Ottis, Cecil, Charlene, Rudolph, and Bridges “Bee” Thomas, and sister, Lorene Thomas preceded her in death.

Edna was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her garden and flowers; She loved having her children and grandchildren around her.  Edna was a mother hen to the residents at The Palace Care & Rehab, and a member of the Maple Grove (No. 2) Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by; sons, Elder Dean (Wanda) Dyer, Bill (Anita) Dyer all of Lafayette, Tenn., daughters, Barbara Faye (Harold) Hutchinson of Gallatin, Tenn., Sharon Kay Dyer of Lebanon, Tenn., brother, James Thomas of Hartsville, Tenn., sister, Robbie Weathford of Clarksville, Tenn., six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, cousin and best friend, Beatrice Sparks.
