William “Billy” Lankford, 55

Mr. William “Billy” Lankford, age 55 of Red Boiling Springs died at 7:58 a.m. Tuesday morning, July 8, 2008 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin where he was admitted Monday after becoming gravely ill at his Highland Road home. He was suffering from lung cancer.

Funeral services were conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. with Eld. Michael Reid and Bro. Frank “Pee Wee” Carter officiating. Burial followed in the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens.
Born William Sidney Lankford at the former Wilson Clinic in Carthage on December 30, 1952. He was the only child of Margaret Ann Bush Lankford of Lafayette and the late Prentice Sidney Lankford and was reared in the Friendship Hollow at Defeated Creek.
On August 20, 2004, in Carthage, he was married to the former Sherry Lynn Dixon of Red Boiling Springs.
Mr. Lankford was a 1972 graduate of Smith County High School and was of the Missionary Baptist faith.
He was an employee at Flex Technologies in Lafayette.
Surviving in addition to his mother and his wife who was a nurse at the former Carthage General Hospital, he is survived by four children, Jason Lankford, J.T. Lankford and wife Peggy all of Lafayette, Lori Guss and husband Michael of Bethpage, Pamela Rich and fiancée Josh Sansone of Buffalo Valley; sister-in-law, Bonnie Jackson of Red Boiling Springs and six grandchildren.
