Odene Whitley Maynard, age 86 of Madison, and formerly of Red Boiling Springs, Tennn. passed away Saturday afternoon, August 2, 2008 at the Skyline Medical Center in Madison, Tenn.
Funeral services for Odene Whitley Maynard were conducted Tuesday afternoon, August 5, 2008 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. with Elder Terry Austin officiating. Interment followed in the Whitley Cemetery. Her family served as pallbearers.
She was born July 9, 1922 in Macon County, Tenn., the 12 of 15 children born to the late Emery Cyrus and Hettie Austin Whitley. On December 26, 1948, she married Loyal D. Maynard, who preceded her in death on February 19, 2002. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Kreis, sisters, Gladys Coffman, Lela Hudson, Zena Smallwood, Vallie West, Flossie Shannon, Alma Lee Whitley, Moline Dalby, and brothers, Marvin, Vesper, Baskel, Roy and Lloyd Whitley. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and a former employee with the Madison Bowling Alley for 21 years.
Survivors include: son, Larry Maynard, Madison, Tenn., son & daughter-in-law, Barry & Joan Maynard, Roseburg, Ore., sister, Naomi Meador, Lafayette, Tenn., brother & sister-in-law, Troy & Margie Whitley, Canton, Ohio, 10 grandchildren.
