Ruby Colter Bartley, age 80 of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. passed away Tuesday morning, August 19, 2008 at the Riverview Regional Medical Center North in Carthage, Tenn.

 

Funeral services for Ruby Colter Bartley were conducted Thursday afternoon, August 21, 2008 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. with Elder Jackie Wakefield officiating. Interment followed in the Whitley Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers were Connie Hawkins, Bonnie Johnson, Ninnie Alibie, Amanda Brawner and Cynthia Denham. Active Pallbearers were Mark Bartley, John Scott Pedigo, Adam Veatch, Darrell West, Bruce Bartley and Bo Steen.

She was born December 30, 1927 in Macon County, Tenn., the daughter of the late Georgie Franklin and Pearl Eloise Smalling Colter. On December 22, 1944, she married John William Bartley, who preceded her in death on February 26, 1992.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her sons, Jackie and Fay Bartley, brother, Will T. Colter and sisters, Erma Back and an infant. She was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include: daughters & sons-in-law, Anna & Donnie Woodard, Pleasant Shade, Tenn., Sandy & Willie West, Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., son & daughter-in-law, Benny & Peggy Bartley, Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., sisters and brother-in-law, Jewell Steen, Lafayette, Tenn., Dorothy Russell, Willette Community, Helen & Omer Patterson, Lafayette, Tenn., 7 grandchildren & 11 great-grandchildren.
