Shelia Powell, 82

Mrs. Shelia Powell of the Kempville Community died at age 82 at 12:25 p.m. Monday afternoon, August 18, 2008 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was admitted their on August 11 after suffering a stroke at her Gladdice Road home.

Funeral services were conducted from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. by Bro. Jeff Burton. Interment was at 1 p.m. EST, Thursday afternoon at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, Ind.

Born Shelia Mescal Pheasant in Fairmont in Marion County West Virginia on September 7, 1925, she was the daughter of the late James C. and Grace M. Travis Pheasant.

Her husband and the father of their seven children, Dana Lynn Powell, died in 1983 in Indianapolis.

Three children preceded Mrs. Powell in death, Karen Sieber, Sue Murphy and Tom Powell.

Mrs. Powell was a member of the Church of Christ.

In 1985 she retired as a supervisor of the infant car seat division of the Cosco Manufacturing Co. in Indianapolis where she had been employed for over twenty-five years.

She relocated to the Kempville Community in 1993 from her home in Knoxville, where she moved after retirement.

Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Cotting, Frances Howell and husband Raymond all of Raymond, Mississippi, Kathy Perry of Indianapolis, Ind.; son, James L. Powell and wife Lynn of Homosasa Springs, Fla.; sister, Arlene Gue of Mt. Airy, Maryland; son-in-law, Jerry Sieber of Kempville with whom she made her home; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
