Sidney Houston, 65

Sidney Houston, age 65 of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. passed away Saturday evening, August 30, 2008 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. 

Funeral service for Sidney Houston will be conducted Wednesday evening, September 3, 2008 at 7 p.m. from the chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. with Brother Oran Collins and Brother Larry Houston officiating. Graveside Services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, September 4, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the Houston Family Cemetery in Johnson City, Tenn. with military honors. Pallbearers are Josh Houston, Will Lee, Bill Barnes, Buster Hodge, Mickey Houston and Ronald Gouge.

He was born February 4, 1943 in Carter County, Tenn., the son of the late Ronald Sidney and Effie Sheffield Houston. On August 27, 1966, he married the former Betty Jane Hilton, who preceded him in death on September 6, 1989. He later married the former Nannette L. Hart on April 20, 1991, who also preceded him in death on December 31, 2004.  In addition to his wives and parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Grady Lynn Miller. He was a Child Support Enforcer in the Public and Private Sector with 23 years of service. He was also a member of the Red Boiling Springs First Baptist Church and a Vietnam Veteran receiving many medals for serving his country.

Survivors include: son & daughter-in-law, Rick & Jeanie Houston, Yadkinville, N.C., son, Douglas Houston, Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., brother & sister-in-law, Larry & Glenda Houston, Blountville, Tenn., grandsons, Richard Houston, Nashville, Tenn., Jesse and Adam Houston, Yadkinville, N.C.
