Earl Claiborne, 83

Earl Claiborne, age 83, of Lafayette, Tenn., passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Knollwood Manor. Funeral services for Earl Claiborne were conducted Saturday, September 13, 2008, at 4 p.m. from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Cary Kemp officiating. 

Mike West, Larry West, Brian Claiborne, Nelson Claiborne, Doug Phillips, and Mark Claiborne served as Pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Underwood Cemetery.              

Earl Claiborne was born on Saturday, April 18, 1925, in Macon County, one of ten siblings, to the late Harvey and Cora (Snyder) Claiborne. He married the former Anna Lois West on June 14, 1952, who survives, sharing fifty-six years together. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harvey Jr., Charlie, Duel, and Dommie Claiborne.

He worked in garment manufacturing for several years and worked at Peterbilt for ten years, before retiring. He served our country in the army during World War II; he enjoyed Kentucky Basketball, baseball, and fishing with the grandkids.  He was a member of the VFW & American Legion and a dedicated Deacon and member of Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church #2.  

Besides his wife, he is survived by; son, Elder Jimmy (Lisa) Claiborne of Scottsville, Ky., grandchildren, Spenser and Jared Claiborne, brothers, Ray Claiborne of Hendersonville, Tenn., Clessie Claiborne of Scottsville, Ky., Jim Claiborne of Portland, Tenn., Leslie Claiborne of Columbia, Tenn., and sister, Estelle Driver of Huntsville, Ala.
