Charles Michael Cothron, 53

Charles Michael Cothron departed this life on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at the age of 53. Funeral services for Michael Cothron were conducted from the Alexander Funeral Home chapel with Elder Eddie Gregory officiating. Ronald Flippin, Gary Flippin, Tim Flippin, Doug Holder, Nicholas Holder, and Dickie Denton served as Pallbearers. Charles Michael Cothron was born on Friday, January 14, 1953, in Macon Co., Tennessee.

He was the son of Charles Randall and Emma Jean White Cothron, who preceded him in death. Besides his parents, one brother, Terry Cothron preceded him in death. Michael was saved at the age of 16 during a car wreck. The Lord saved his soul between the time the car left Long Creek Rd. and it’s landing in a field. He later joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Michael married the former Pam Flippin on September 20, 1974. T heir union of thirty-four years was blessed with two daughters, Jennifer Holly and Hillary Kay. He worked as a Route Salesman fro Frito-Lay for fifteen years and later for Coca-Cola for eight years. For the past eight years, Michael was a self-employed contractor with his wife, Pam. Michael loved life completely. Friends would gather around him to share his joy and laughter. Quick with a smile, he never hesitated to help his neighbors, family and friends. He was a positive and uplifting person who we were all blessed to know. By the time his grandchildren came along, his health had begun to deteriorate. His life became centered on his family and his name changed from Michael to G-Daddy. No matter how badly he felt on a given day, his grandchildren never failed to bring a smile that made his whole being glow. In addition to his love for his family, he had a passion for car racing and dreamed of someday being crew chief for his grandkids. Following an extended hospital stay, he spend his last days in his home, surrounded by his loved ones. Besides his wife, he leaves behind to mourn his passing; daughters, Hillary and husband Frank McCall and Holly and husband Ray Comer all of Lafayette, Tenn. Sisters, Marsheila Sempsrott of Coffeeville, Kan., Jill Vance of Sumner County, Tenn.; grandchildren, Josie McCall and Austin Comer; step-mother, Peggy Cothron; step-brothers, Van Presley, Sandy Presley and step-sister Pam Fuqua.
