William Douglas Wix, 78

William Douglas Wix, age 78, passed away Friday, October 10, 2008, at his residence. The funeral service for William Douglas Wix was conducted Sunday, October 12, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Millers Chapel Church with Brother Murl Wix and David Simmons officiating.

Troy Wix, Michael Wix, Jason Wix, Chad Blankenship, Pat Wix, and Kenneth Hauskins served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Millers Chapel Cemetery.

William Douglas Wix was born on Sunday, February 2, 1930 in Macon County, Tenn. He was the son of Kirksey William and Maggie Jane Carver Wix. On January 16, 1946, he married Evelyn Ruline Frye, who preceded him in death in 2006. Together they raised one daughter and four sons.

Doug worked for the Macon County Board of Education as a school bus driver for 51 years. He loved fishing and bird hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by; daughter, Paulette Blankenship of the Wixtown Community, sons; Roger (Wanda) Wix of the Wixtown Community, Rocky Wix of Lafayette, Kirk (Sonia) Wix of the Wixtown Community, sisters; Dixie Harp of the Oakdale Community, Brownie Hauskins, of the Cedar Bluff Community, 10 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, Doug was also preceded in death by; his son, Gary Wix, two brothers, Robert Wix and James Wix, a great grandson, Dylan Blankenship, and an infant sister.
