George Edward McFerrin, Sr., 87

George Edward McFerrin Sr., age 87, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008, at Brandywood Golden Living Center. The funeral service for George McFerrin, Sr. was conducted Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 10 a.m. from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Russell Cain officiating. Justin Carlisle, Shane Carlisle, Jamie McFerrin, Joel McFerrin, Greg Hale, Dewayne Whittemore, and Jeffery Carlisle served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Joelton Hills Memory Gardens.

George McFerrin, Sr. was born on August 31, 1921. He was the son of Annie Lora Wesley. Besides his wife and parents, George was also preceded in death by; his son, John Glenn McFerrin and a brother, Wesley McFerrin. 
On March 4, 1949, he married Ethel Edith Duhon, who preceded him in death on September 30, 2004. Together they raised one daughter and three sons. 
George served in the Coast Guard during WWII. He worked as a manager for Century Steps Company in Lebanon, Tenn. for 15 years.   
He is survived by; a daughter, Patricia Carlisle of Lafayette, Tenn., two sons; Jim W. (Tonie) McFerrin of Knoxville, Tenn., George Jr. (Paulette) McFerrin of Lafayette, Tenn., brother, John C. McFerrin of Ala., half brother, Bill Brake of Fla., sister; Ann Laura Head of Ala., half sister, Bonnie Syfrett of Fla., sister-in-law, Charlesine McFerrin of Ala., 9 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, George was also preceded in death by; his son, John Glenn McFerrin and a brother, Wesley McFerrin.
