Lorraine Payne, 93
Ms. Lorraine Payne passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 28, 2008 at the age of 93 at Knollwood Manor in Lafayette.
Funeral services for Ms. Lorrine Payne were conducted Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 7 p.m. from the Chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with her nephew, Elder Brent Hall officiating. Graveside service and Interment followed on Thursday at 12 noon at the Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Ky. Jason Kirby, Gary Hall, Lowell Lee English, Shane Rush, Gabriel Tyra, and Kirby Vincent served as Pallbearers. She was born on February 4, 1920 in Macon County, Tenn., one of fourteen siblings of the late C.D. (Connie) and Minnie Ruth (Blankenship) Kirby. She was married to Joseph L. Payne in June, 1952, who preceded her in death on August 19, 1991. In addition to her husband and parents, sisters, Evelyn English, Nancy Burdette, Linda Knyra, and Margie Gail Hall, brothers, C.D., Cody, John, Paul, Jake, Roger, and Larry Kirby preceded her in death. She worked and lived with her husband of 39 years in Louisville, Ky. for many years after leaving Macon County. She was saved and baptized in 1934 at the Enon Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by, brothers, Clay Kirby and Phillip Stringer both of Kokomo, Ind. and a host of nieces and nephews.
