J.B. Barnfield, 87

J. B.Barnfield, age 87, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008, at Sumner Regional Medical Center. The funeral service for J. B. Barnfield was conducted Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Lonnie Meador and Elder Terry Austin officiating. Brent Barnfield, and Jordan Smalling served as honorary pallbearers. Keith Cox, Todd Holland, Brad Holland, Hal Ballou, Paul Ballou, and Billy Barnfield, Jr. served as active pallbearers. 

Interment followed in the Anderson Memorial Park.

J. B. Barnfield was born on, February 18, 1921 in Macon County, Tenn. He was the son of the late L. O. “Luster” and Viola (Ellis) Barnfield. On May 27, 1944, he married the former Mary Lou Gregory sharing sixty-one years together, and raising three children; Mary preceded him in death on March 21, 2006. Besides his wife and parents; brothers, Cordell, R.V., infant brother Donald Barnfield, sisters, Opal Dickens, Lorell Gann, Laura Ballou, and son-in-law, Bobby Cox, also preceded him in death.

J. B. was a bus driver for the Macon County School System for forty-eight years, before retiring; he also worked for the Macon County Sheriff’s Department carrying inmates out to work sights. He loved farming, coon hunting, and being with his family. He was a member of Old Beech Bottom Missionary Baptist Church.

He leaves to mourn his passing; son, Justin (Christy) Barnfield of Gamaliel, Ky., daughters, Patricia Holland, Judy Cox Both of Scottsville, Ky., brother, Billy (Norma) Barnfield, sister-in-law, Nancy Barnfield all of Lafayette, Tenn., grandchildren, Todd (Angela) Holland of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Brad Holland, Keith (Leslie) Cox, Kerri (Jimmy) Shrum all of Scottsville, Ky., Tess Barnfield, Brent Barnfield both of Lenoir City, Tenn., and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
