Dorothy Elizabeth Woodmore, age 81

Dorothy Elizabeth Woodmore, age 81, passed away Sat., Nov. 29, 2008, at her residence. The Funeral service for Dorothy Elizabeth Woodmore was conducted Mon., Dec. 1, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Anthony Barber and Elder Barry Miller officiating.

Dennis Woodmore and Earl Dozier served as honorary pallbearers. Don Woodmore, Glenn Dillehay, Charles Cothron, Steve Cothron, Jerry Polston, and Brian Cothron served active pallbearers. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Dorothy Elizabeth Woodmore was born on, Oct. 24, 1927, in Macon County, Tenn. She was the daughter of the late Charles Porter and Martha Dona Gregory Cothron. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by; brothers, Willard Ray Cothron, Jesse Lee Cothron, Lewis Cothron, William Porter Cothron, and one sister, Mary White. On Dec. 23, 1950, she was married to Jesse Woodmore, sharing fifty-seven years, they raised three daughters together; He survives. Dorothy was a mother of three and a homemaker; she cherished her time with her family. She was a member of Brattontown Missionary Baptist Church.  Besides her husband, She leaves to mourn her passing; daughters, Paulette (George) McFerrin, Sherry (Ronnie) Shadowens, and Melinda (Jimmy) Thornton, eight grandchildren, Troy and Anthony Barber, LeAnne Whittemore all of Lafayette, Tenn., Derrick Shadowens, Devonna Hesson, Danny Thornton, Matthew Thornton of Portland, Tenn., and Joel McFerrin of Lafayette, Tenn., special sister-in-law, Earlene Cothron, special friends, Wendi and Patrick Rich, extended family, Earl and Jean Dozier, seventeen great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
