Ercil D. Gentry, 60
Ercil D. Gentry, age 60, of the Hermitage Springs Community, passed away suddenly, Thurs., Dec. 25, 2008 at the Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, Tenn. Funeral Services for Ercil D. Gentry were conducted Sun., Dec. 28, 2008 from the chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. with Roy Henson and Rick Mosley officiating. Interment followed in the Browning Cemetery with military honors.
Honorary Pallbearers were Billy, Shawn and Shannon Kendall. Active pallbearers were Kris Strong, Marvin Chaffin, Donald Chaffin, Michael King, Kevin Reece and Timothy McLerran. On June 15, 1996, he married the former Sandra McLerran, who survives. Ercil received a Welding Certificate from the Hartsville Vocational School. He was Boilermaker for the with Tennessee Valley Authority with 20 years of service and a member of the Leonard Church of Christ. He served in the army during Vietnam receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal 1st Award and the Bronze Star Medal. Survivors besides his wife and mother include, sisters & brothers-in-law, Geraldine & Jr. Chaffin, Mt. Juliet; Gayle & Rick Mosley, Nashville; Veachel & Charles King and Sheila Rouse all of Hermitage Springs; Lesia Reece, Lebanon; brother, George Danny Gentry, Hermitage Springs.
