Shirley Grigg, 72

Mrs. Shirley Grigg, age 72, of the Kempville Community, passed away Tues., Dec. 23, 2008 at the Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage after suffering from congestive heart failure. Funeral services were conducted Fri., Dec. 26 from the Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Wilson and Bro. Ricky West officiating.

Interment followed in the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens. Born Shirley Ann McCall in Kempville on March 20, 1936, she was one of five children of the late Fred Hollis and Julia Sina Brooks McCall. A brother, Fred “Bud” McCall preceded Mrs. Grigg in death. On May 25, 1952, she and Billy Frank Grigg were united in marriage by then Justice of Peace, the late Leo West at his home on Little Salt Lick Creek. Mr. Grigg preceded her in death on October 9, 2000 after over forty-eight years of marriage. One of their two sons, Bruce Grigg, preceded her in death on March 15, 2006 at the age of 47. Mrs. Grigg was a twenty plus year employee of the former W.E. Stephen’s Manufacturing Company in Carthage. She was a member of the Hickman Primitive Baptist Church in the Hickman Community. Mrs. Grigg is survived by another son, Frank Grigg and wife Shelia Carver Grigg of Kempville; daughter-in-law, Gail Boyd Grigg of South Carthage; three sisters, Jan Mooneyhan of Coldwater, Mississippi, Betty West of Hendersonville, Rita Adkisson of Old Hickory; brother, Lyle McCall of Old Hickory; six grandchildren, Mellicent Grigg of Monoville, Heather Wilkerson and husband, Chris, Alicia Grigg, Hunter Grigg all of Kempville, Levi and Ian Grigg both of South Carthage.
