Chester Carman Glover, 80

  Chester Carman Glover, age 80, passed away Mon., Jan. 5, 2009, at the University Medical Center. Funeral services for Chester Carman Glover were conducted Thurs., Jan. 8, 2009 from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Barry Brawner officiating.

Thomas Massey, Sebastia Brawner, Simon Brawner, and Grant Towns served as Honorary Pallbearers. Randall Massey, Jeff Massey, DWayne Massey, Sammy Oldham, Doug Oldham, Ricky Oldham, and Stacey Brawner served as active pallbearers. Chester Carman Glover was born on June 2, 1928 in Macon County, Tenn. He departed this life on Jan. 5, 2009 at the age of 80. Chester was the son of the late Wiley and Nettie Williams Glover. He married the former Francis Sue Oldham on April 21, 1973, sharing thirty-five years together. During these years they were seldom seen apart, attending auctions, singings, community events and the great nieces and nephews sporting events. Besides his parents; brother, Leon Glover, an infant brother and sister, also preceded him in death. At the age of 19, he was saved and this is his testimony as he told it…..“ I was saved on December 31, 1947 at Liberty Church in Macon County, Tenn., while attending my mother’s funeral. It seemed as though the preacher, Brother Grover West, was speaking directly to me. I prayed to the Lord to save my soul and He did.” He was a member of Old Beech Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. Chester farmed for several years, worked as a custodian at Fairlane Elementary School and at Sportswear. Chester had retired from the Lafayette Manufacturing Lumber Company after 19 years. Although he never had children of his own, he enjoyed spending time with his nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides his wife, Francis Sue; He is survived by; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
