Artie Lee Jones, 79

  Artie Lee Jones, age 79, passed away Sun., Jan. 11, 2009, at the Westmoreland Care and Rehab Center. Funeral services for Artie Lee Jones were conducted Wed., Jan. 14, 2009 from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Mercer officiating. Interment followed in the Haysville Cemetery.

Kenneth Swann, Ancle Burford, Bobby Bransford, Roger Long, Eldon Clark, and Randy Kirby served as pallbearers. Artie Lee Jones was born on, Feb. 10, 1929, in Jackson County, Tenn. He was the son of the late Willie Andrew and Mamie Stafford Jones. Besides his parents; son, Ricky D. Jones, brother, I. B, Jones, and sister, Peggy Helen Jones, also preceded him in death. On Dec. 15, 1952, he married the former Robbie Gentry, sharing fifty-six years together and three sons, Ms. Robbie survives. Artie was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean War. Artie worked for Texas Boot Company in Hartsville, Tenn., for ten years before retiring. He enjoyed farming, bird watching, and supporting the Tennessee Vols when they played.  Artie was a member of the Lafayette Church of Christ. Besides his wife, He is survived by; sons, Tom Jones and Tony Jones, both of Gainesboro, Tenn., granddaughter, Brandi (Brandon) Hartman of Lafayette, Tenn., great-grandchild, Lincoln Hartman, daughter-in-law, Karen (Randy) Long of Lafayette, Tenn., brother, Earl (Bonnie) Jones of Gainesboro, Tenn., sisters, Wanda (Jimmy Ray) Kennedy of Franklin, KY, Patsy Moss of Carthage, Tenn., and Annette (Rod) Brown of Gainesboro, Tenn., several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive.
