Mattie Curtis Parkhurst, 94

  Mattie Curtis Parkhurst, age 94, of Asheville, NC formerly of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. passed away Thurs., Jan. 15, 2009, in Asheville. Funeral Services for Mattie Curtis Parkhurst were conducted Sat., Jan. 17, 2009. from the chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Elder J.E. Shoulders officiating. Interment followed in the Whitley Cemetery.

Her Family served as pallbearers.
Ms. Mattie was born Oct. 19, 1914 in Macon County, Tenn., the daughter of the late Jarrett and Isabelle Fox Curtis.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Roy Parkhurst who died in 1992, daughter, Wanda P. Markins, and son, Larry Edward Parkhurst.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting and gardening. She was a member of the Hendersonville, NC Church of Christ. She is survived by her Daughter, Wilma P. (Ray) Hamlin of Asheville, NC, Son-in-law, Paul Edward Markins of Nashville, TN, grandchildren, Corean Hamlin, Larry (Jennifer) Hamlin, Paula P. (Donnie) Mangrum, and Jonathan Markins, great-grandchildren, Matthew and Katie Mangrum.
