Dorothy Eakle Cherry, 88

Dorothy Eakle Cherry, age 88, of Red Boiling Springs, passed away Tues., Jan. 13, 2009, at the Hendersonville Medical Center.  Funeral services were conducted Fri., Jan. 16 at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel with Jimmy Cook officiating. Interment was in the Clementsville Cemetery in Clay Co., Tenn.

Pallbearers were Wayne Boone, Dickey Cherry, Ray Clements, Thomas Copas, Harian McLerran, and Jimmy Russell. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Biles, James Brown, Micky Clements, Kelly Duke Cherry, Willis Deckard, Lewis Eakle, Elden Scott. She was born in Monroe Co., KY. on Sept. 23, 1920, to the late Palo Eakle and Dora Head Eakle. She was a member of the Church of Christ, a retired factory worker having worked at Osh Kosh and Genesco, and the widow of Bob Cherry, who died Aug. 27, 1992. They were married in 1943. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Virginia Cherry of Red Boiling Springs; one daughter, Betty Carol West of Hendersonville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Christy (Mike) Brown, Kerry (Courtney) West, Kayla (Carl) Alexander and Keeley Cherry; three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Austin Brown and Kaylor West; three sister-in-laws, Bonnie (Paul) Havlick, Edith Cherry and Juanita Cherry. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Delmus, Duward, Douglas and Dallas Eakle and one sister Delma Eakle and a son-in-law Larry Wayne West.
