Howser Dean Jones, 75

  Howser Dean Jones, age 75, of Lebanon and formerly of Lafayette, Tenn., passed away Fri., Feb. 6, 2009, at the University Medical Center. Funeral services for Howser Dean Jones were conducted Sun., Feb. 8, 2009 at from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tony Day officiating. David Vanburan, Lee Haley, Brandon Oldham, Jerry Wilmore, Bill Wilmore, Max Wilmore, and Tony Wilmore served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.

Howser was born one of two siblings to the late Deward and Jennie Elizabeth Day Jones. He married the former Shirley Oldham, who preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 2006. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by; grandson, Nathan Climer and sister, Lillian Caruthers. Howser was known for his business in Lafayette, Jones Dairy Dip, that he owned and managed for several years. He then worked for Superior Carriers until retirement. He enjoyed fishing in his earlier years, watching westerns, and playing with his dog “Bear”. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Meadorville Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by; daughter, Teresa Irby of Lebanon, Tenn., special grandson, Stuart (Heather) Irby of  Lebanon, Tenn., step-daughter, Tonya (Terry) Matthews of Castalian Springs, Tenn., step-son, Brad (Karen) Oldham of Lebanon, Tenn., granddaughter, Christian Irby of Lebanon, Tenn., great-grandchildren, Adalynn Irby and Kali Grace Irby, six step-grandchildren, and four nephews.
