Joseph Dillman, 76

Mr. Joseph Dillman, age 76, of the Difficult Community, passed away Mon., Feb. 2, 2009 at the Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Bro. Bill Shumate and Pastor, Bro. Ron Ralph, officiated the funeral service that took place Wed., Feb. 4 from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Sanderson Cemetery at Pleasant Shade.

Surviving in addition to his wife of almost fifty three years are three children, Arlene Smith and husband Randy of Bush Creek, Lane Dillman and wife Rhonda Petty Dillman of Pleasant Shade, Marie Davis and husband Todd of Westmoreland; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Born Joseph Allen Dillman in Altoona in Blair County, Pennsylvania on April 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Harold Ferner and Frances Mai Gross Dillman. On July 21, 1956 in Washington, D.C., Mr. Dillman was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Evelyn Dickerson of Pleasant Shade. Mrs. Dillman was then employed by the United States Government with the C.I.A in D.C. Mr. Dillman retired from Boring Aircraft, where he was an industrial engineer, in May of 1987 after twenty seven years service. After retirement he and his wife moved to their country home in Macon County on Defeated Creek Road. He attended the Spring Field High School in Springfield, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church at Tanglewood. Mr. Dillman proudly served our country with the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on March 10, 1955 in Atlantic City, New Jersey with three years, eleven months and twenty six days of service with two years, one month and sixteen days of that period served in overseas service.
