Mary Hicks Taylor, 87

  Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Hicks Taylor, age 87, of Gallatin, Tenn. were conducted on Sat., Feb. 5, 2009 from the chapel of the Family Heritage Funeral Home in Gallatin with Brother Dee Russell officiating. Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette was in charge of the arrangements.

Norman McLean, Scotty McLean, Jason Todd, Brandon Hodges, Kenny Irwin, Clifton Taylor and Dustin McLean served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Sumner Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Mary passed away Thurs. with her family by her bedside at home after a lengthy illness. A native of Sumner County, Tenn., she was born on Aug. 3, 1921, one of five siblings born to the late Robert and Ethel Kennedy Hicks. She was married to Ellie Taylor in l962, who survives. Besides her parents, her children, Patricia Ann Key, Barbara Jean Todd, James Larry Key, grandchild, Terry Todd, Sister, Elizabeth Woodard, and brothers, James and Vernon Hicks preceded her in death. Mrs. Mary Taylor was a hairdresser in Gallatin for many years and was a member of the Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Mary and her husband, Mr. Ellie took care of her child, Barbara Jean Todd, who was bedfast for several years, in the comfort of their home. She enjoyed cooking and would often take prepared food to others that were sick or to the funeral home. In addition to her husband of 46 year, she is survived by her son, Gary (Wanda) Key, daughters, Virginia (Walter) McLean, Brenda Hodges, all of Gallatin, Tenn., step-children, Clifton (Shirley) Taylor, Portland, Tenn., Gary (Joyce) Taylor, Oak Gove Community, sister, Martha Quinby, Gallatin, Tenn., 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
