1st Lieutenant William Eric Emmert, 36

1st Lieutenant William Eric Emmert, age 36 of Lebanon passed away Tues., Feb. 24, 2009 in Mosul, Iraq. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 4, 2009 at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2009 from 12:00 noon until 9:00 pm at the Partlow Funeral Chapel. Rev David Hesson and Chaplin Mark Phillips will officate the services. Pallbearers: Tommy Boleyn, Wade Williams, Michael Cowan, Tracy Tyler, Derek Travers, Wayne Jackson, Gene Stegal. Honorary Pallbearer: Sgt. Bill Nelms. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations may be make to the Nashville Rescue Mission at 639 Lafayette St. Nashville, Tenn. 37203-4226 or a charity of your choice. He is preceded in death by sister, Margery Catherine Emmert, grandparents, Howard Lee and Catherine Climer Edwards, Victor Jacob and Margery Rousseau Emmert. Survived by parents Bill and Brenda Edwards Emmert; Special Girl in his life, Paige Garrard; Aunt, Marcia Emmert (Frank) Norcom; Uncle, Wayne (Cora) Edwards; Cousins ,Margery Norcom (Ken) Hilburn, Michelle Edwards (Donald) Walker, and Teresa Edwards. Bryson, Erin, Amy Hilburn. Kayla, Dalton, Madison Walker. Melissa and Ashley Edwards. Great aunts, Jennie Rousseau Tedeschi, Norma Rousseau Burgdorf, Mary Emmert, Evelyn Climer Lancaster and Lois Climer (Dan) Shafer. Many other cousins, Special cousin, Charles (Dean) Vantrease, Special aunt, Lois Moody. Eric was a member of the First United Methodist Church, he graduated from Lebanon High School in 1991. He served in the United States Army from 1991-1996 as a Counter Intelligence Agent, Sgt. at discharge. His tours included Korea, Germany and Cuba. He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1999, Cum Laude with a degree in Criminal Justice. While attending M.T.S.U., Eric served as a member of the Nissan Fire Brigade. He entered the Tenn National Guard in 1996 as Sgt. He served on the Governor's Task Force on Marijuana Eradication attached to the Memphis Organized Crime Unit, 1996. He served as a Tennessee State Trooper from 2000-2007; served on the Governor's Security 2005, Special Agent for the T.B.I from 2007-2008 until called to serve in Iraq. He was promoted to 2nd Lt. in the Tenn National Guard January 2006; promoted to 1st Lt. January 2008. Serving as Platoon Leader 1st Platoon 269th Military Police Company in Iraq since January 2009.
