Barbara Evetts Gregory, 76

Barbara Evetts Gregory, age 76, passed away Feb. 28, 2009, at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Mon., Mar. 2, 2009, from the chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder J.B. Shoulders and Elder Terry Austin officiating.

Carl Hudgens, Bobby Shrum, Billy Wilson McClard, and Jim Adamopoulos served as honorary pallbearers. David Watson, Terry Evetts, Bobby Evetts, Gary Evetts, Tommy Wilburn, and Hubert Wilburn served as active pallbearers. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Barbara Evetts Gregory was born to the late William Bailey and Eliza Birkie Ann Vaden Evetts. She was married to the late R. C. Gregory, former Mayor of Lafayette, on Jan. 10, 1948, sharing fifty-two years together and raising a daughter.  R. C. preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 2000.  Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by; brothers, Joe Bryant Wilburn, James Dilliard Wilburn, Sherman Frisco Wilburn, William Shelton Evetts, and a sister, Cora Ella Evetts. Ms. Barbara was a hairdresser for thirty-two years, owning her own business here in Lafayette. She was a lady who enjoyed life, but her love for her family and church always came first. Ms. Barbara played guitar and loved music. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and member of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.  She is survived by, Daughter and son-in-law, Kathy (Bob) Tuck of Lafayette, Tenn., granddaughter, Mitzi Flippin of Dallas, TX, grandson, Matt Tuck of Lafayette, Tenn., step-daughter, Barbara Ann Spencer of Lebanon, Tenn., sister, Mattie Evetts Watson of Bethpage, Tenn., step-granddaughter, Penny Harp of Lebanon, Tenn., special friend, Billy Kemp of Lafayette, Tenn..
