John David Whitson, age 61, of Portland, passed away March 5, 2009 at his residence. He is preceded in death by his father, John Edward Whitson; sister, Barbara Eden; grandson, John Wesley Hunter Riddle.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Whitson of Portland; daughter, Tonya Stover of Lafayette; son, Michael Whitson of Portland; mother, Pearl Evelyn Whitson of Rockbridge; brother, Ricky Whitson of Castallion Springs; 4 sisters, Mary Gammons of Portland, Gloria Link of Rockbridge, Dale Whitson of Rockbridge, Linda Whitson of Westmoreland;; 2 stepdaughters, Yolanda Nelson of Old Hickory, Angela Haskins of Rocky Mound; stepson, Louis Loza of Mt. Juliet; 8 grandchildren. Funeral services were Sat., March 7, 2009 at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home with David Hartman officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry Stover, Robert Nelson, Chris Whitson, Randy Johnson, Jerome Huoge, Luis Loza, and Michael Brownlee.
