Dan Gaston Oldham, 87

Dan Gaston Oldham, age 87, passed away March 19, 2009, at Macon County General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Fri., March 20, 2009, from the chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Morris Cothron officiating. Interment followed in the Nelson McDonald Cemetery.

Dan was born to the late Albert and Alice Evitts Oldham on March 19, 1922, in Carthage, Tenn. He married the former Atrice Mazell Ellis on January 31, 1942, sharing fifty-one years together and raising a son, she preceded him in death on Dec. 9, 1993. Besides his wife and parents; brother, Raymond Oldham, sisters, Ruthie McClard, Della Langford, Ella Thomas, and Ethel Patterson, also preceded him in death. Mr. Dan was a veteran, serving in the United States Army during World War II, and a farmer most of his life. He was a loving father and grandfather. He and his wife loved to have their grandchildren with them. He would lead singing at church and enjoyed gospel music. Mr. Dan was a member of the Old Beech Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by; son and daughter-in-law, Randall (Janice) Oldham of Lafayette, grandchildren, Christopher (Vicky) Oldham of Red Boiling Springs, Jonathan Edward Oldham, Ricky (Sandy) Oldham, Marty Allen Oldham, Casey Randall Oldham, all of Lafayette, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
