Elease Alma Cropper Powell, 88

Elease Alma Cropper Powell, age 88, of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., passed away March 21, 2009, at the Palace Care and Rehab in Red Boiling Springs. Funeral services for Ms. Elease were conducted Mon., March 23, 2009, from the chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Floyd Ferguson officiating. Interment followed in the Testament Cemetery.

Elease Powell was born on June 17, 1920 in Monroe County, Kentucky to the late Charlie Albert and Margie Emma Cassidy Cropper. She was married to Willie Vesper Powell in 1938, sharing 62 years together; He preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 2000.  Ms. Elease was a mother and homemaker who devoted her life to her family. In her spare time she loved gardening; raising vegetable gardens and beautiful flower gardens. She was of the Missionary Baptist belief. Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Sammie Cropper and Great Grandchild, DeShaelyn Jenkins. She is survived by; daughter and special friend, Marjorie Jean Powell West and Lawrence Hollis of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., Grandchildren, Stacey West Mahaffa and husband Randall of Carthage, Tenn., Shayron Jenkins and husband Terry of Lafayette, Tenn., great-grandchildren, Brandon Woodard of Red Boiling Springs, John, Jaelyn, and Shantera Jenkins all of Lafayette, Brother, Charles Cropper of Gamaliel, KY.
