Robert George Artell, SR., 75

Robert George Artell, SR., of Lafayette, Tenn., age 75, passed away March 18, 2009, at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Graveside services were conducted Sun., March 22, 2009, from the Underwood Cemetery with Brother Greg Wilson officiating. Interment followed in the Underwood Cemetery.

Robert was born to the late Peter and Claire Theresa Schultz Artell on Aug. 14, 1933. He married the former Nancy King Artell on June 9, 1990, sharing eighteen years together, Nancy survives. Besides his parents; first wife, Gloria Artell preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 1986, a son, Robert Artell Jr., step-son, William Schlussler, and a brother, Peter Artell, Jr. also, preceded him in death. Robert served in the United States Marines during the Korean conflict; he worked for the Miami, Florida Postal Service as operational manager for forty years, before retiring. He later moved to the Underwood Community in Macon County, Tenn. Besides his wife, he is survived by; daughter and son-in-law, Diane (Bill) Stone of Portland, Tenn., step-son, John Butcher of Lafayette, grandchildren, Christopher Artell, Summer Kaufman, and a sister and brother-in-law, Diane (Larry) Morton of New York.
