Gearline Hire Howser, 80

Gearline Hire Howser, age 80, of the Oakdale Community in Macon, Tenn., passed away March 31, 2009, at Hendersonville Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Fri., April 3, 2009, from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Earl Meador and Reverend David Simmons officiating. Interment followed in the Oakdale Cemetery in Macon County, Tenn.

Gearline Hire Howser was the first of five children, born to the late Nolen Leo and Willie Ruth Curtis Hire. Besides her parents; one son, Larry Ralph Howser and a brother, also preceded him in death. Gearline worked in a Garment Factory for several years, retiring in the early seventy’s. She was a loving mother, who cherished her children and their families. She was a homemaker, a babysitter, and enjoyed cooking and quilting in her spare time. Gearline also worked on the farm, stripping tobacco just this last year and raising gardens. Gearline was a member of the Lafayette Chapter 379 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Oakdale General Baptist Church. She is survived by; son, Paul Lee Howser of the Oakdale Community in Macon County, daughter, Patricia (Roy) Bartley of Westmoreland, grandchildren, David (Linda) Simmons of Westmoreland, Jacqueline Howser Rutan and Fiance Kent Copas of Lafayette, Ryan Howser and girlfriend Andrea Center of Lafayette, step-grandchildren, Sherrill (Chuck) Roddy, and Connie Roark, all of Westmoreland, great-grandchildren, Dustin Simmons, Brittany Simmons of Westmoreland, Samantha Gifford, Broderick, Dawson Rutan, Holly Howser and Bryson Howser, of Lafayette and five step great-granddaughters.
