Lex “Sam” Bilbrey, 88
Lex “Sam” Bilbrey, age 88 of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., passed away Mon., May 25, 2009 at his son’s residence in the Walnut Shade Community of Macon County. Funeral Services for Lex “Sam” Bilbrey were conducted Thurs., May 28, 2009 from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. with Jimmy Cook officiating. Interment followed in the Bilbrey Family Cemetery with Military Honors.
Pallbearers were Roger Clark, Larry “Pee Wee” Halliburton, Larry Holland, Jacky Carver, Jim Carver and Terry “Jargo” Bilbrey. Lex was born Jan. 24, 1921 in Logan County, KY, the son of the late Bedford and Georgia Adcox Bilbrey. On Oct. 11, 1947, he married the former Opal Keith Strode, who preceded him in death on April 17, 2008. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Ada Kee, Cooper Caruthers and Louise Bilbrey. He was a farmer, carpenter and a member of the Whitleyville Church of Christ. He served his country during World War II receiving 3 Bronze Stars. Survivors include son & daughter-in-law, Thomas H. & Lynne Bilbrey of Red Boiling Springs, granddaughter & her husband, Desire & Jeremy Marshall of Lafayette, grandsons & companions, Hank & Danyelle Bilbrey and Samuel & Denishea Bilbrey all of Red Boiling Springs, great-grandchildren, Isaac & Kennedy Marshall & Landon Bilbrey sisters, Effie Lou Harris of Manchester, Julie Carver of Lafayette, brothers & sisters-in-law, Joe & Sue Bilbrey of Woodbridge, VA, Hubert & Freddie Bilbrey of Lafayette, Tenn.
