Wendell Caroll Centers, “Pete”, 70
Funeral Services for Mr. Wendell Caroll Centers, better known as “Pete”, age 70, of Lafayette, Tenn. were conducted Sun., May 31, 2009 from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Brother J. E. Shoulders officiating.
John Dyer, Steve Belton, Kevin Centers, Danny Cothron, Kyle Turner, Ricky Turner, Ross Turner, and Mat Barton served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park in Lafayette. After a long battle with cancer, Mr. “Pete” passed away, Thurs. at Macon County General Hospital with his family by his bedside. A native of Monroe County, KY, he was born on Thurs., June 16, 1938, one of four siblings born to the late Claudie and Viola (Martin) Centers. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Clara Brown and “Katy” Turner, son-in-law, Radford Spivey, and half brother, Joe Hale. He was married to the former Betty Holland on March 23, 1957, who survives. Mr. “Pete” worked at construction most all his life as a heavy equipment operator, working part of that time for LoJac in Lebanon. He was addicted to talking and listening on his CB Radio. His children and grandchildren will never forget their time with “Pa” fishing. He and his wife, Betty, enjoyed putting together puzzles, even in their younger years. He was Missionary Baptist in belief. In addition to his wife of 52 year, He is survived by a daughter, Louise Spivey, sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Wanda Centers, Keith and Robin Centers, Troy Centers all of Lafayette, Tenn., Grandchildren, Netisha Turner, Anderea Centers, Jennifer Bell, Kevin Centers, Ashley Centers, Kyle Centers, Samantha Centers, Ryan Centers, and 3 great-grandchildren.
