Clifton Lee York “Pops”, 68

Funeral Services for Clifton Lee York, better known as “Pops” to his family and close friends, age 68, of the Siloam Community of Macon County, Tenn. were conducted on Fri., June 26, 2009 from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Elder Anthony Hale officiating.

Miranda York Wainscott, Dusty Carter, Dalton York and Dylan York served as Honorary Pallbearers. Active Pallbearers were, James Bentley, Brandon Carter, Daniel York, Billy Sloan, Jerry Johnson, and Dale Dickson. A procession in a horse drawn wagon followed the funeral service to the New Bethel Cemetery. Clifton York passed away on Mon., June 22, 2009 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. A native of Haywood County, North Carolina, he was born May 7, 1941, one of eight siblings born to the late Daniel Ernest York and Nancy Belle (Greene) York Reynolds. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his Brother, James Clifford York and sister, Mary Elizabeth York. He married the former Cora Lee Green, the love of his life, on Oct. 16, 1965, who survives. To this union was born three children and through the years they were blessed with six grandchildren. He was Church of God in belief. He had been a truck driver for MS Carrier, Tennessee Pride Sausage Company and Dollar General Store until becoming disabled. He loved to ride his horses on trail rides and the old fashioned wagon trains.  He served his Country in the United States Army. He was a wonderful husband, Dad, and cherished his grandchildren. In addition to his wife of almost 36 years, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, John Paul and Becky York of Westmoreland, Tenn., Ernest Lee and Sandy York, Stewart Wayne York, all of the Siloam Community of Macon County, Tenn., grandchildren, Brandon Carter, Westmoreland, Dusty Carter, Portland, Tenn., Miranda York Wainscott of Gallatin, Tenn., Daniel York, Dalton York, both of the Siloam Community of Macon County, and Dylan York of Lafayette, brothers, Richard York of Westmoreland, Tenn., Steve York , Fred (Shirley) York all of Lafayette, Tenn., sisters, Barbara Jenkins of Lafayette, Tenn., Allean (Von) Smith of GA.
