Lois Duerene Brooks, 91

Lois Duerene Brooks, age 91, of Lafayette, Tenn., passed away June 23, 2009, at Macon County General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Thurs., June 25, 2009 from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Guthrie Gregory officiating.

David Carter, Mark Wooten, Foster Carter, Dale Cassidy, David Hughes, and Erik Knight served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Underwood Cemetery. Lois Duerene Franklin was born on Dec. 17, 1917in Monroe County, KY to the late Paul Clemons and Belvie Gertrude Wooten Franklin. She was married to Floyd Brooks, sharing their lives together; Floyd preceded her in death in 1975. Besides her husband and parents; step-mother, Velma Franklin, and infant son, Daryl Lee Brooks, also preceded her in death. Ms. Duerene was a homemaker and a loving wife. Over the years she had enjoyed baby-sitting. She loved the children she kept in her home, they meant so much to her. She had lived at the Knollwood Manor for several years and enjoyed playing bingo and listening to the people sing that passed by from time to time. She enjoyed hearing them sing “Precious Memories”. Ms. Duerene was saved as a young girl and was a member of the former Underwood Methodist Church. She is lovingly survived by; sister, Paulette (Billy) Huffines of Lafayette, Tenn., special niece, Vickie (David) Carter of Castalian Springs, Tenn., and a host of family and friends.
