Mary Huffines, 77

Mary Huffines, age 77, of the Highland Community passed away Wed., July 1, 2009. Funeral services were conducted Fri., July 3 from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Clayton and her Pastor Bro. Jeff Burton officiating. Interment followed in the Draper Cemetery on Wartrace Creek.

Born Mary Edith Wilkerson in the Difficult Community on April 7, 1932, she was one of two daughters of the late Leslie James “Fuzzy Wilkerson and Connie Clarice Cook Wilkerson. A sister, Blonnie Wilkerson preceded her in death at the age of two. On Dec. 23, 1954 Mrs. Huffines was united in marriage to Earl Lee Huffines, of the Highland Community of the Wartrace Creek Community. He precede her in death Sept. 28, 1993 at the age of 62. Mrs. Huffines was a member of the Wartrace United Methodist Church. She retired in 1995 from the former Carthage Shirt Corporation where she had worked as a seamstress since 1963. Prior to her employment at Carthage Shirt, she was employed at the former W. E. Stephens Manufacturing Co. in Carthage beginning in 19503. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Huffines (Rickey) Combs of Highland; son Timmy (Susan) Huffines of Highland; granddaughters, Crystal (Wade) Draper and Keisha (Nick) Sams of Highland; great-grandchildren, Jaymin, Tristan, Regan, Brianna, Americas and Seth.
