Juanita Brooks, 76

Juanita Brooks, age 76, of the Difficult Community, passed away Wed., July 1, 2009 at Centennial Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Fri., July 3, 2009 from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with her pastor, Eld. Jeff Patterson officiating. Interment followed in the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens.

The oldest of four children of the late Fred Raymond West and Dovie Colena Knight. She was born Freddie Juanita West in the McClures Bend Community on Sept. 25, 1932. Mrs. Brooks was united in marriage on April 1, 1949 to Lester Bethel Brooks, a Difficult Community native. He preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1984. She was a member of the Friendship Primitive Baptist Church at Defeated Creek. She is survived by children, Patrick (Ann) Brooks of Difficult and Sherry (Eddie) Shoulders of Pleasant Shade; sisters, Janelle Cadell of Carthage, Jessie Dale Preston of Hickman; brother Randall West of Gordensville; grandchildren Beth (Jeff) Grisham , Sara (Richard) Davenport, John (Mamie) Shoulders, Joe Shoulders; great-granddaughters Brooke and Ava Grisham; step-grandchildren Phillip (Brandi) Givens, Teresa Torrence; step-great-grandchildren Case and Hailey Givens, Hanna Justice.
