Rome Wilmore, 83

Rome Wilmore, age 83, a retired farmer of the Graveltown Community, passed away Mon., July 6, 2009 at his home. Funeral services were conducted Wed., July 8 from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Eld. Billy Joe Shoulders officiating. Interment followed in the Pleasant Shade Cemetery.

Born Rome Beasley Wilmore on Feb. 1, 1926, he was the sixth of ten children born to the late James “Jim” and Etta Beasley Wilmore and was the sixth child to die. He is preceded in death by siblings Hillard Wilmore, Earcie Wilmore Gregory, Harold Wilmore, Annie Wilmore Hackett and Pattye Wilmore Sloan. Mr. Wilmore was united in marriage to the former Cora Agnes Earps of the Nickajack Community on Jan. 22, 1944. He was saved at the age of fifteen in 1942 and baptized into the full fellowship of the Maces Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Agnes, his wife of sixty five years, is their daughter, Paulette Wilmore (Paul “Slick”) Kemp of Graveltown; granddaughters, Tammy (Mark) Mise and Paula (J.L.) Coe of Red Boiling Springs; grandchildren, Ron Smith and fiancée Kelsey, Tyra Mise and Keri Coe; sisters Earlene Richardson of Riddleton and Gertrude (Glenn) Dillehay of Madison; J.B (Joann) Wilmore of Pleasant Shade and I.H. Wilmore of Graveltown.
