Robert McNeil Horton, Jr., 78

Robert McNeil Horton, Jr., age 78, of Macon County, Tenn., passed away July 7, 2009, at Skyline Medical Center.  The family chose cremation; there will be no visitation or services at Alexander Funeral Home.

Robert McNeil Horton, Jr. was born on Dec. 7, 1930 in Davidson County, Tenn. to the late Robert McNeil Horton, Sr. and Irene Evelyn Moers Horton. He married the former Ethel Barnes Mitchell Horton on Aug. 5, 1960, sharing forty-eight years together and raising two sons, Ethel survives. Robert was a 1955 graduate of Tennessee Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Music. He was a veteran of the United States Marines and worked in Special Services for two years from 1952-1954. Robert worked as Corporate Quality Manager for fifteen years, for Propper International in Puerto Rico until he retired around 1994. He enjoyed Fly Fishing in his spare time, but his love was for music. Robert had played in the Marines, and had been part of a Jazz Band in Puerto Rico; he played brass instruments; primarily the trumpet. He was a good husband, father, and friend. Robert was a member of the Church of Christ. Besides his wife, Ethel, he is lovingly survived by; sons, Robert McNeil Horton III and wife Elaine, and John Mitchell Horton all of Westmoreland, Tenn.
