Funeral Services for Leathea Louise Brawner, age 74, of Lafayette, Tenn. were conducted on Tues., July 28, 2009 from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Brother Jerry Smith officiating.  Her family and friends served as Pallbearers. Interment was in the Nelson McDonald Cemetery in Lafayette, Tenn.

Leathea Louise Brawner passed away on Sat., July 25, 2009 at Knollwood Manor in Lafayette where she had been a resident since May, 2005. A native of Macon County, Tenn., she was born on Tue., Sept. 18, 1934, one of thirteen siblings of the late Estes and Sinnie (Morgan) Rush. In addition to her husband of 44 years and her parents, her brothers, Herman, Billy and Roy Lee Rush, sisters, Claudean Wilder, Estelene Blankenship and Joyce Smith preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, Carl Edward Brawner, in 1954, who preceded her in death in March, 1998. To this union was born five children and through the years they were blessed with 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Old Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. Ms. Leathea loved homemaking and was and was an avid bird watcher. She is survived by her five children, sons, James, Charles and Terry Rush all of Lafayette, daughters, Linda Quinn of Westfield, WI and Patricia Brawner of Cookeville, Tenn., brothers, Don (Shirley) Rush of Lafayette, Tenn., Joe (Peggy) Rush of Westmoreland, Tenn., Jerry Rush of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., sisters, Nancy Key and Dorothy Sadler both of Lafayette, Tenn., Nina Harman of Lebanon, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials in the form of donations be made to the Family Funeral Fund.  Those may be made at the funeral home.
