Bruce Logan, 72
Mr. Bruce Logan of the Smith Bend Community died five days before his 73rd birthday at his Spalding Bell Lane home at 5:30 a.m. Monday morning August 10, 2009, from heart complications.
Wednesday afternoon, August 12th funeral services were conducted from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home at 3 p.m. by his Pastor, Bro. Jackie Dawson. Following the services a procession escorted by his beloved Jackson County Rescue Squad traveled to the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens for burial.
The son of the late Hoyt Stewart and Carmine King Logan, Robert Bruce Logan, was born in Nashville on August 15, 1936.
On August 18, 1961 in Gallatin Tennessee, he was married to the former Barbara Joyce Webb.
Mr. and Mrs. Logan purchased their Spalding Bell home in 1993 as a vacation home and had made it their permanent home in 1994.
Mr. Logan was employed in maintenance at the former Nashville Memorial Hospital in Madison for over twenty-eight years. At the time of his retirement in 1996, he was supervisor of the plumbing division.
He attended Madison High School and was a member of the Carthage Full Gospel Church.
Mr. Logan proudly served our country with the United States Navy.
While health permitted, Mr. Logan was a longtime member of the West End Volunteer Fire Department at Gladdice, and was a longtime member of the Jackson County Rescue Squad. The Rescue Squad had recently presented him the “Lifetime Member” award.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of forty eight years, are a daughter, Joy Biggs and husband Ray of Gladdice, and a son, Bruce Logan and wife Karen of Murfreesboro; brother, Thomas Logan and wife Susan of Nashville; four grandchildren, Ray Biggs, who is a member of the Jackson County High School football squad and proudly wears the number 65, Bailey Michael Biggs, Cameron Rader, De’ana Schaefer and husband Andrew.
The family has requested memorials to be made to the Jackson County Rescue Squad.
