George R. Gilreath, 73

George R. Gilreath, age 73 of Lafayette, Tenn. passed away Sun. evening at the St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. Funeral Services for George R. Gilreath were conducted Thurs. afternoon, Aug. 20, 2009 from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Brother Jeff Barber officiating. Interment followed in the New Liberty Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Daryl Turner, Shane Turner, John Davis, Joe Bower, Allen Grider, Jack Brown, Dusty Firkin, James Shockley and Josh Johnson. George was born Feb. 12, 1936 in Oak Ridge, Tenn., one of eleven children of the late William Milton and Eveline Carter Gilreath.  On Dec.8, 1955, he married the former Morell Caldwell, who survives.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Gilreath, sisters, Rosie Ward, Thelma Gilreath and Beatrice Grisly and brothers, Troy, Porter and Raymond Gilreath. He was a farmer, Logger and a member of the New Liberty Baptist Church. He served his country in the Navy during Korea. Survivors besides his wife, Morell of 53 years include: daughters & sons-in-law, Barbara & Terry Willette, Samantha Gilreath all of Tompkinsville, KY, Mildred & Daryl Turner, Glasgow, KY, sons & daughter-in-law, Mike Gilreath, Red Boiling Springs, Randy & Sherry Gilreath, Bowling Green, KY, sisters, Mary Gilreath and Mae Conant, Sparta, brothers & sisters-in-law, Bobby & Mabel Gilreath, Crossville, William Gilreath, Paul & Betty Gilreath, Kenny & Charlotte Gilreath all of Sparta, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
