Alta Oneta Davis Krantz, age 70, of Lafayette, Tenn., passed away Sept. 14, 2009, at Knollwood Manor. Funeral services were conducted Thurs., Sept. 17, 2009 from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Donnie Barnes officiating. Patrick Foss, Brad Foss, John Luna, Ryan Kosier, Chris Knight, and Elvis Frazier served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park.
Alta Oneta Krantz was born on December 18, 1938 in Clay County, Tenn., to the late Hobert Edgar and Velma Dewesse Cherry Davis, who preceded her in death. Besides her parents; three brothers, Willis C. “Buck” Davis, William C. “Bill” Davis, and Gerald Dean Davis, two sisters, Shelby Jean McPeak, and Velma Dean Green and a grandson, Kenneth Hobert Foss, also preceded her in death. On Nov. 1, 1958, she was married to E. B. Krantz, sharing fifty years together and raising four children. Alta’s joy was her family; she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a seamstress working for Imperial Reading and Trousdale Manufacturing for several years and Measure Up for the last seventeen years of her career, retiring in 2008. Alta also had worked for Fairlane School for a short time. Alta was a witty character; she could always make you smile and friends never new what to expect from her. She liked to be in the middle of everything, she was a loving and caring person. She attended the Church Of Christ in Hermitage Springs, Tenn. Besides her husband, she is survived by; son and daughter-in-law, Eric (Ashley) Krantz of Gallatin, Tenn., daughters and sons-in-law, Denise (Tim) Hesson of Lafayette, Tenn., Teresa (Glenn) Foss of Cornersville, Tenn., and Shelia (Richard) Welch of Smithville, Tenn., brother and sister-in-law, Herlin (Joyce) Davis of Bugtussle, KY, sisters and brother-in-law, Opal Knight of Hermitage Springs, Tenn., Shirley Wilder of Red Boiling Spring, Tenn., and Katherine (Lloyd) Ford of Bugtussle, KY, ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
