Mitchell Harlin Sampson, 85

Mitchell Harlin Sampson, age 85, of Lafayette, Tenn., passed away Sept. 17, 2009, at Kindred Hospital in Bordeaux. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Guthrie Thompson officiating. James Earl Ferguson, Tim Headrick, Adam Headrick, Randy Payne, Johnny Jones, Thomas Sampson, Gary Beaudette, and Harold Payne served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Neal Cemetery in Flippin, KY.

Mitchell Harlin Sampson was born on June 11, 1924 in Monroe County, KY, to his parents; Earnie Edgar and Lillie May Payne Sampson, who both preceded him in death. Besides his parents; one son, Roger Mitchell Sampson, also preceded him in death. On June 24, 1956, he married the former Calcia Dean Walton, sharing fifty-three years together and raising one son; Ms. Calcia survives. Mitchell was a farmer all his life, but looking after his cattle is what made him happy.  He enjoyed driving to town, where he would talk and visit with family and friends.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cared deeply for his family and loved the time he spent with them. He was a member of the Kentucky Colonel and the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church. Besides his wife, Calcia, he is survived by; sister, Novice Sampson of Lafayette, Tenn., grandson, Thomas and wife Martha Sampson, great-grandchildren, James, Braxton, and Kianna Sampson all of Hermitage Springs, Tenn.
