Ray Coxville, 83

Ray Coxville, a former resident of Avery Trace Lane at Defeated Creek, passed away Friday evening at Smith County Health Care. He was pronounced dead at 12:35 a.m. Sat., Sept. 5, 2009 at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage. Funeral services were conducted Tues., Sept. 8 from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with burial in the King Family Cemetery in Macon County near the Cato Community.

The eulogy was delivered by his family members. Born Algie Ray Coxville in Georgia on Oct. 22, 1926, he was the son of the late Alzie and Helen Lucille McKinzie Coxville. Only July 5, he was married to the former Alice Marie Reynolds who preceded him in death on Jan. 25, 2008 following sixty years of marriage. Mr. Coxville was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired welder of the Georgia Marble Company in Tate, GA. Prior to commencing employment for Georgia Marble, he was a truck driver and transported oranges for the Florida Orange Growers Association. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a military policeman during World War II. Surviving are six children, Janice (David) King of Cato Community, Delores Tatum of Gastonia, NC, Shannon Short of Charlotte, NC., Danny Ray of Perry, Fl., Joyce Coley of Matthews, N.C., Marisa Mandoza of Conyers, GA., eighteen Grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
