BETTY GEAN SLAYTON, age 74,

  of the Wixtown Community in Macon County, TN, passed away September 27, 2009, at her residence.  Funeral services for Betty Gean Slayton were conducted Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. from the Miller’s Chapel General Baptist Church with Reverend Murl Wix officiating.  David Slayton, Lynn Slayton, L.C. Slayton, Michael Borders, David Jones, and Roark Hauskins served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Shrum Cemetery.
Betty Gean Sanders was born on October 30, 1934 in Macon County, TN, to her parents; Raymond and Allean Ray Fuqua Sanders, who both preceded her in death. On September 26, 1950, Betty was married to L.T. Slayton, sharing almost thirty years together, and raising four children; L.T. preceded her in death on May 6, 1980. Besides her husband and parents; one sister; Dollie Mae Hoskins, and two great-grandchildren, Tazland Slayton and Evelyn Borders; also preceded her in death.
Betty was a homemaker that enjoyed cooking, sewing, and most of all talking on the phone to friends and family.  She liked to collect figurines and dolls. Betty enjoyed being outside, working in her flowers and watching them grow.  Her life was dedicated to her family; she was a loving mother, who cared deeply for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by; Sons, L. C. and wife Rita Slayton, Ricky Lynn and wife Mildred Slayton, Daughters, Sheila and husband Terry Meador, Sherry and husband Corey Cole, Brother, Jackie Ray Sanders, all of the Wixtown Community in Macon County, TN, Sister, Marie Buchanan of Nashville, TN, 12 Grandchildren, 21 Great-grandchildren, and 2 Great-great-grandchildren.
