Loyd Lee Frye, age 94

Loyd Lee Frye, age 94, of Lafayette, TN, passed away September 29, 2009, at the Trousdale Medical Center.

Funeral services for Loyd Lee Frye were conducted Thursday, October 1, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder J.E. Shoulder officiating. Jonathan Frye, Ricky Frye, Charlie Frye, Jay Murray, Devin Frye, and David Cothron served as pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Loyd Lee Frye was born on August 17, 1915 in Macon County, TN, to his parents; Charlie Coleman and Lena Whittemore Frye, who both preceded him in death. On February 02, 1936, Loyd married the former Olga B. Ragland, sharing sixty-nine wonderful years together, and raising five children; Olga preceded him in death on May 14, 1905. Besides his wife and parents; two brothers, Raymond Frye and Alford Neal Barber, three sisters, Ruby Jones, Louise Brown, and Annice Allen, also preceded him in death. Loyd was a tobacco farmer, who raised large crops and loved being outside working in the dirt. He also worked for Planters Tobacco Floor in Hartsville and Gallatin, TN, for several years. Loyd enjoyed spending his spare time witling and talking to friends. He was a dedicated father, who loved his family and having them around him. Loyd was saved at a young age and was a member of the New Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by; sons, John D. and wife Kathy Frye, J.C. and wife Doris Frye, Jack W. and wife Benda Frye, all of Lafayette, TN, daughters, Paula and husband Harold Gregory of Hartsville, TN, Melissa and husband Randy Roark of Washington, N.C., brother, Jack Barber, step-brother, Ray Dean Barber both of Lafayette, TN, sisters, Cardella Storey of Nashville, TN and Bonnie Huffines of Lafayette, TN, 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren.
