Wilda passed away Thursday afternoon, September 24, 2009, on her 79th birthday, at the Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, TN.  She was born September 24, 1930 in the Gann Hollow of the old bottom community of Macon County, the youngest of eight children born to the late Delter and Lillie Brawner Gann.  She was married to Coolidge Kemp, who preceded her in death on October 10, 1988.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by all her brothers, Lloyd, James Edgar “Ed”, Omie and S. B. Gann, and sisters, five year old Bevie Gann and Evie Maxey.   Wilda was a machine operator for the Hartsville Blouse Factory for many years.  She loved her church and was a very faithful member of the Old Bottom Missionary Baptist Church for 69 years joining in 1940 at the age of 10.  God chose not to give Wilda children but he gave her several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews to love and they enriched her life daily with their love and devotion to her.  Every baby that she would see, you would always hear her say that it was the sweetest one she ever saw.  No one ever heard her say anything negative about anybody.  She was a humble woman and practiced trying to live as a Christian woman every day of her life and set an example for other Christians.  When asked why she did not take communion at church, her reply would be that she never felt worthy.  Her family would marvel at this remark, because to them, she was such a good Christian woman.  Besides her love for Christ, her Church, her family, she loved to listen to gospel music and bake sweet things for her family and friends.   She is survived by her sister, Eula Mae Andrews of Lafayette, TN, and several nieces and nephews.  Arrangements by the Anderson & Son Funeral Home, Lafayette, TN, 615-666-4011.
