Mr. Gene Hesson
Mr. Gene Hesson of Lafayette died at 2:15 pm. Wednesday afternoon Oct. 7 at the age of 75 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville where he was admitted Sept. 29th. Saturday morning Oct 10th funeral services were conducted by pastor, Eld. Jeff Patterson, form the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Following the 11 am. services burial was in the Patterson Cemetery at Russell Hill.
Born May 29, 1934 in the Russell Hill Community of Macon County, he was the only son of he late Hildred Odell Hesson Who died Nov.24, 1968 at the age of 57 and the late Opal Juanita Carver Hesson who died Oct.17, 1977 at the age of 63.
On May 2 1964 Mr. Hesson married in Nashville to the former Thelma Ruth Wakefield of Portland
Their only son, Kelly Eugene Hesson died June 29, 1992 at the age of 23 as the result of an automobile accident.
Mr. Hesson attended the friendship Primitive Baptist Church at Defeated Creek and was a 1952 Graduate of Red Boiling Springs High School.
He served our country with the United States Army during the Korean War.
He retired from the United Postal Service in Nashville in 1990 where he was employed for over 30 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 40 years is their daughter, Beth Chandler and husband Mike and their daughters Clarice and Lucretia all of Lafayette.
